Sherritt Ordered To Clean Up Coal Mine Leak Into Alberta River

A win will also place him at 9-2 and nail down a berth in the semifinal (Alberta takes first based on its round-robin win over Saskatchewan). A loss in the morning will still guarantee him a spot somewhere in the playoffs, all pending key games in the morning between Ontario and the Northwest Territories, while New Brunswick plays Newfoundland/Labrador. Wins by either or both of Ontario (7-3) and New Brunswick (7-3) will land them in at least a tiebreaker, while losses by both teams could bring Quebec (7-4) and possibly Nova Scotia (6-4) back in to the picture. Rob Harris Halifax foursome dimmed the hopes of Quebecs Mike Fournier, who needed a win to be guaranteed a spot somewhere in the playoffs. Harris controlled the entire game from the first end with an opening deuce en route to beating Fournier 7-6. Harris must still defeat Manitobas Sean http://www.nexopia.com/users/eliseoowys/blog/23-west-hollywood-cosmetic-dentist-poneh-ghasri-dds-offers-various-teeth-whitening-options Grassie Friday morning to get to 7-4 and then hope for a couple of upsets. In other games Thursday night, P.E.I.s Rod MacDonald finished his round robin at 5-6 with a 9-5 win over the the Territories Steve Moss.

Alberta electricity use breaks all-time record

Johnson said he bought the 32 hectares several years ago, before he entered politics, because it was located close to a town recreation centre. More recently, the local school board earmarked the area for a junior-senior high school, which, if built, would be expected to raise the value of Johnsonas property. Johnson said Thursday he has no control over where the school board or town wants to build its projects. He said his role is to work with the Infrastructure Minister Wayne Drysdale and President of read the Treasury Board Doug Horner to make funding decisions from a long list of proposed school projects across Alberta. In this case, he said he will continue to play a role in determining the approval list, but the final call on whether the Athabasca school makes the list will be up to Drysdale and Horner. aThe ethics commissioner has looked at the file and told me there is no conflict of interest here.

It was the second time this week demand reached record levels a on Tuesday, a peak of 10,610 MW broke the previous record of 10,609 MW set on this link January 16, 2012. According to Environment Canada, temperatures in Calgary hit a low of -14C Wednesday, with a wind chill that made it feel like -21C. AESO spokesperson Dawn Delaney said winter is typically the time of year when demand is highest on Albertaas power system, but acknowledged it is unusual to see record peaks this early in the season. aWe are hitting it earlier than we usually do, especially because we have yet to place the additional demand on the grid that usually hits with the Christmas lighting load,a Delaney said. aChristmas lighting alone adds approximately 240 MW to Albertaas demand, which is like adding 300,000 additional houses to the province over the holiday season.a Still, Delaney said what is happening is not unexpected, considering Albertaas continued growth in both population and industrial load. Since 2005, Albertaas electricity consumption has increased by 14 per cent, and this year alone, AESO is forecasting a four per cent growth over 2012. During a heat wave this summer, AESO had to dip into its emergency power reserves and as a result, issued a public appeal to Albertas to reduce electricity consumption.

The contaminated water - containing clay, mud, http://free.yudu.com/item/details/1464457/Selena-Gomez-Choosing-Taylor-Swift-Over-Justin-Bie shale and coal fines - spilled into the river after an onsite water containment pond at the Obed Mountain Mine near Hinton, Alberta, breached on Oct. 31. The sediment plume, travelling at a rate of less than 2km an hour, is currently around 125km (80 miles) upstream of the oil sands production hub of Fort McMurray in the north of the province. Jessica Potter from Alberta Environment and Sustainable Resource Development (AESRD) said communities downstream of the mine had been warned not to draw from the river. "We have asked community water treatment plants continue to refrain from using the river as a resource when the plume is going through," she said. The AESRD handed Sherritt an environmental protection order to put in place recovery, management and assessment plans.
